The Armidale region has a thriving small business sector and boasts a highly diverse industry base and a variety of well-established key employment divisions. Around 2,899 local businesses in the Armidale region contribute to a gross regional product valued at $1.79 billion (2022) and tourism continues to play an important role as an economic driver, with tourism sales estimating $156.6 million.

The next wave of innovation for our region will come from the New England Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) which is slated to produce a significant amount of Australia’s renewable energy.
